Robert Fuller, a wildlife artist residing in Thixendale, North Yorkshire, embarked on a project to construct a remarkable jungle gym in his yard. Little did he know that this endeavor would not only captivate humans but also serve as a source of amusement for various animals. Robert’s property has become a frequent gathering spot for a plethora of wildlife, including owls, hedgehogs, foxes, badgers, and even an entire family of stoats.
Ordinarily, stoats tend to remain inconspicuous, preferring the seclusion of their surroundings. However, these mischievous creatures found themselves irresistibly drawn to the trampoline within the jungle gym and succumbed to the temptation of playful bouncing. It was in 2015 when Robert first stumbled upon a stoat reveling in the trampoline’s delights. Following the creature’s distinctive paw prints in the snow, he traced their path all the way to the trampoline, which bore unmistakable evidence of stoat frolicking.
Driven by a desire to observe these elusive animals more closely, Robert meticulously installed over 80 remote cameras throughout his garden. His intention was to monitor the secret lives of these bashful creatures. Finally, his patience was rewarded as he successfully captured footage of the stoats gleefully leaping on and off the trampoline. The trampoline had become an exhilarating playground for the stoat kits.
Fascinated by the trampoline’s unique material, the stoats employed it for stretching exercises and playful bouts of bouncing. Not limited to mere amusement, the trampoline proved instrumental in honing the stoat kits’ essential survival skills. The climbing frame became their training ground, facilitating practice sessions for hunting and offering an opportunity to engage in their own version of hide-and-seek.
Presently, the stoats have taken full ownership of the jungle gym, occasionally sharing their newfound haven with badgers, owls, and other wildlife. Robert harbors no objections to this delightful arrangement and takes immense joy in witnessing his animal companions revel in the perfect playground he has created. Be sure to watch the video footage showcasing the stoats’ jubilant escapades on the trampoline; it is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.
