Having previously explored Costa Rica and Ecuador, I’m thrilled to share the wonders of the Atlantic forests in Brazil with you.
Brazil boasts one of the richest bird diversities globally, with a staggering 1822 confirmed species, including 238 endemics. Its abundant biodiversity and accessibility to wildlife make it a hotspot for bird photographers worldwide. Join me as we embark on a journey to witness some of the most vibrant fauna Brazil has to offer, from the Atlantic rainforests to the shores of Rio De Janeiro. The country encompasses vastly diverse landscapes, ranging from the expansive Amazon Basin and the Pantanal, the largest natural wetland on Earth, to the unique Atlantic Forests, which harbor some of the world’s most endangered animals. Additionally, there are wet montane forests, salt lagoons, coastal scrublands, and more, providing a glimpse into the wide array of birding sites Brazil has to offer.
Southeast Brazil’s Atlantic Forest region is brimming with brilliantly colored and approachable endemic bird species. Spanning 1,500 square miles along Brazil’s coastline, the Atlantic Forest is a biodiversity hotspot teeming with diverse flora and fauna.
