Her Bold Transformation Has Everyone Talking Now!: What Does She Look Like Now?

Kelly Ripa recently shared the unconventional strategy she used to slip into her Oscars gown—borrowing her husband Mark Consuelos’ high-protein diet for three days.

On a recent episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, Ripa admitted she struggled to zip up her side-zip dress, joking that her “side skin” nearly got caught in the process. Faced with the wardrobe dilemma, Consuelos suggested she try his disciplined eating plan—something she typically avoids.

Though Ripa usually steers clear of heavy animal protein, she committed to the short-term challenge. For 72 hours, her meals centered on steak, yogurt, and vegetables. The results spoke for themselves. “I ate exactly how you told me to eat, and that dress zipped right up—no side skin,” she told her husband, adding that she “looked super fit.”

Consuelos’ Take on Balanced Nutrition

A longtime advocate of healthy eating, Consuelos used the moment to highlight the importance of pairing protein with fiber. He explained that while protein supports muscle and overall health, fiber is essential for gut function and may reduce the risk of chronic conditions like diabetes. His advice echoes federal guidelines recommending 22–28 grams of fiber per day for women and 28–34 grams for men, depending on age.

Expert Insight: Protein vs. Carbs

Nutrition experts, however, caution against leaning too heavily on protein. Sports dietitian Nancy Clark told Business Insider that athletes, in particular, often consume more protein than necessary, assuming it directly builds muscle. In reality, she noted, carbohydrates are the body’s primary fuel source, and neglecting them can impact energy and performance.

More Than a Quick Fix

While Ripa’s temporary diet shift worked for her red-carpet appearance, it highlights broader conversations around nutrition, body image, and balance. Celebrity events often bring pressure to achieve a certain look, leading to quick fixes rather than long-term habits. Still, her candid story offered a humorous and relatable glimpse into the behind-the-scenes effort that goes into red-carpet fashion—and how a partner’s advice can sometimes make all the difference.
