Experiencing the union of two individuals in love as they embark on a journey together and exchange vows is always a heartwarming spectacle.
Such was the case at the wedding of US Marine Corps sergeant Joshua Newville and Senior Airman Emily Leehan. Anticipating a joyous celebration, guests were in for a surprise as they became witnesses to an extraordinary and touching moment.
While expressing her vows, Leehan not only had heartfelt words for her husband but also had prepared a special message for her stepson, Gage. The adorable young boy was brimming with happiness, clearly endorsing his father’s choice and welcoming his future mom with open arms.
As Leehan addressed Gage, the atmosphere became filled with an audible ‘awww,’ accompanied by tears of joy from the onlookers. However, it was Gage’s emotional response that stole the spotlight. Listening intently to his stepmother’s words, he couldn’t contain his emotions and broke down in tears, tightly embracing her.
Expressing her sentiments, Leehan spoke directly to Gage, saying, “I want you to be safe, and to try your hardest and to be a good person.” Recognizing the overwhelming moment for the child, she gently added, “Don’t cry, baby.” Continuing, she conveyed, “The last thing I hope you learn is that you are a special boy. You are so extremely smart, handsome, and kind to others. You have helped shape me into the woman that I am today, and I may not have given you the gift of life, but life surely gave me the gift of you.”
After a collective moment of emotional release, the couple proceeded to exchange their vows, sealing their commitment to each other. Following the touching ceremony, it was reported that the newlyweds, both on active-duty, postponed their honeymoon due to their immediate return to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.
