Among these marvels is the Victoria Crown Pigeon, a striking creature that effortlessly captures our attention with its grandeur.
These magnificent blue pigeons call the lowland and swamp forests of northern New Guinea and nearby islands home. Often seen in pairs or small groups, they gracefully traverse the forest floor in search of sustenance.
When startled, these ground-dwelling birds swiftly take flight, soaring up into the canopy or perching on a sturdy branch. There, they may linger for some time, communicating through gentle calls and the subtle flick of their tails. It’s moments like these that remind us of the delicate yet resilient harmony of the natural world, and the profound beauty that surrounds us.
Unfortunately, just like most animals, these beautiful creatures are widely hunted for their meat and feathers and also their habitats are destroyed by deforestation due to this, these rare blue pigeons are considered to be nearly threatened.
