Youthful Talent Impresses Judges on The Voice Australia with Saxophone Expertise and Soulful Vocals

Despite the wealth of talent showcased on The Voice Australia in recent seasons, many gifted contestants have faced elimination due to tough competition. Lexi X, a talented fifteen-year-old saxophonist and vocalist from Brisbane, was one such contestant in the twelfth season of the show.

Despite her undeniable talent, Lexi was unable to progress beyond the Battles stage. However, her blind audition, which has garnered over a million views, remains truly outstanding.

During her audition, Lexi delivered a moving rendition of “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes, blending her unique vocal expression with impressive saxophone skills. All four judges were captivated from the moment she started singing. Jessica Mauboy listened intently with closed eyes, while Jason Derulo nodded in appreciation. Rita Ora, who couldn’t resist dancing in her seat, seemed particularly enchanted by Lexi’s talent.

It comes as no surprise that Rita was the first to hit her button, turning around to see Lexi’s youthful appearance. Her jaw dropped at how young Lexi was, prompting fellow judge Jason to press his button as well in hopes of recruiting Lexi to his team. In the end, Lexi chose to join Rita’s team, which also included future champion Tarryn Stokes, drawn by Rita’s evident passion for his singing style.

Rita was also a fan of the five-piece boy band Overnight from season 12 of The Voice Australia. During their blind audition, they performed a rendition of “Larger than Life” by the Backstreet Boys. Rita was so captivated by the group that she joyfully danced upon seeing them and pressed her button seconds into their performance. Although all four judges were won over by Overnight, the group ultimately decided to join Judge Guy Sebastian’s team.
